CWA hosts seminar on religious freedoms
PASADENA — Concerned Women of America California will hold its state conference from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Pasadena Hilton Hotel.

The theme for this year’s gathering is “Religious Liberty: Current Threats to Faith and Family.”

The speakers will include Professor Joshua Lingel, founder and executive director of i2 Ministries, a La Habra nonprofit that reaches Muslims; James Horn, retired American diplomat and anti-terrorism expert; Sophia Marsh-Ochsner, author and speaker on Islam and Christianity; Jack Thompson, Miami attorney specializing in entertainment industry litigation; Bob Tyler, general counsel, Advocates for Faith & Freedom in Murrieta; and Brad Dacus, president of Sacramento-based Pacific Justice Institute.

The cost for the conference, including luncheon, is $89 for registrations postmarked by Jan. 28; afterward the cost increases to $115. The final registration deadline is Feb. 18.

Men’s conference in Redlands
REDLANDS — Packinghouse Redlands will host “Unless the Lord Builds the House,” a men’s conference Feb. 6 and 7.

Special guests for the free event will be Jack Hibbs, pastor of Calvary Chapel Chino Hills; Don McClure of Calvary Way Ministries; Mike MacIntosh, pastor at Horizon Christian Fellowship and worship musician Chris Lizotte.

The sessions will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

A free-will offering will be taken.

Conference serves as catalyst for church leaders
IRVINE — Mariners Church will hold “West Coast Catalyst,” a three-day leadership conference in April that is expected to draw 3,000 people.

The conference, to be held April 22 to 24, is designed for next-generation church leaders who want to become agents of change. The format includes dialogue, worship and fun.

Speakers for the event will be Andy Stanley, lead pastor North Point Community Church; Erwin McManus, lead pastor of Mosaic Church; Brian Houston, senior pastor Hillsong United; Craig Groeschel, senior pastor LifeChurch.tv; Jud Whilhite, pastor Central Christian Church; Perry Noble, lead pastor NewSpring Church; Francis Chan, pastor Cornerstone Church; Guy Kawaskai, founding partner, Garage Technology Ventures; Nick Vujicic, founder Life Without Limits; and Catherine Rohr, CEO Prison Entrepreneurship Program.

The conference will also feature the Hillsong United band.

Couples’ retreat in February
ANAHEIM — American Family Living is sponsoring a couples’ weekend to be held Feb. 27 and 28 at Cornerstone Church.

Opening the door to China
SANTA ANA — Open Doors USA will launch The Open Doors China Experience tour at 2 p.m. Jan. 12.

The guided tour highlights the ministry of Open Doors ministry in China, both past and present.

Through its ministry in China, Open Doors instructs and equips Sunday School teachers, provides pastors with study Bibles, supplies teaching tapes and material, distributes children's Bibles and trains thousands of church leaders each year.

For every $3 given, Open Doors can provide one Chinese Bible.

Regional Messianic conference comes to SoCal
IRVINE — The Messianic Jewish Alliance of America will host its “Yeshua ’09 MJAA Southwest Regional Conference” Feb. 13 to 15 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

The program, which includes teaching and outreach, will feature Paul Wilbur. Planned activities include evening concerts and panel discussion on messianic prophecies, Messianic Yeshiva, worship dance, a youth program and a children's programs.

There is a $15 charge for the evening program.
